From a steel pole high above the ground in a private tinted dark glass gazebo hung an old style hexagon shaped lamp which adorned a most beautiful painted flower mural. A young lady dressed in a purple body suit stands under the lamp gazing at the cauldron in front of her while stirring the unknown objects oozing together, her short yet curly hair keeps falling into her eyes no matter how many times she puts it behind her ears "Maybe you should just shave it all off" A tiny voice is heard from the lamp above and the young lady glares at it with pure malice "Little smart arse Witches like me lose our power when are hair is shaved off" The tiny body from which the tiny voice came peer's it's tiny head out of the lamp "Well Nevra apparently not forever otherwise you wouldn't have grown your hair back and I wouldn't be trapped in this lamp by you" The tiny girl retreats into the middle of the lamp where a small bed to fit her body is placed. The tiny girl never regretted what she did because the Witch Nevra her former master who exiled her to the lamp tried to kill a young man of who she was fond of. It started last summer when Nevra used her tracking spell to find a great source of magical power but when she tracked it down she realized it wasn't going to be easy especially with a Roadjon protecting him. Roadjon's are powerful beings which manage the mana of Earth even though magic had since long gone with what's left of magical beings to hide from oppressive dangers like hunters or Government. Rain followed Nevra for six hundred years never aging as did she yet for the first time when Rain came across this man she felt sorry for him, he was so in love with the Roadjon and the Roadjon with him. Nevra then cast a spell on the young man making him fall in love with Rain while she prepared the potion to suck up his magical energy and Rain went along with it for a long time then one day she grew a conscious and fought Nevra. Rain succeeded by removing all her hair with a Barong but the spell on the young man did not break and Nevra could still use the potion she kept to trap her prey so now Rain was exiled to the lamp for the rest of her days which was infinite. The thing about the lamp is that any one inside cannot be killed unless someone inside the lamp does the killing; it's basically an eternity as a moving statue. Not needing to drink and not needing to love. Rain pondered this over and over yet was never able to justify her own actions even in her mind, losing his magic would have been no consequence to the boy seeing as he didn't know he had any and therefore didn't even use it but she still felt guilty for leading the boy on in the beginning and for betraying Nevra.
Nevra sighed then looked up at her captive with contempt "Well girlie it's seems like my potion is going to take longer than I thought" Nevra let go of the stick she was stirring with then went over to the small table in the middle of the room and assembled some things into a hand bag "I'll be going for a while just remember no matter what you do you can't escape the lamp" Nevra waved at the general direction of the lamp in a sarcastic way then exited down the hall leaving Rain to stew on her bad memories. The glowing blue muck with its green hue in the cauldron started to turn blood red which meant the potion was half way done. Ever since Nevra and Rain tracked down the young boy over a year ago magic on Earth had been slowly draining away and it seemed to effect anything with magic even the Roadjon race seemed to be getting weaker. It was only a matter of time before the Twilight Brigade came to fix things up but there are probably more important things for them to do. The Twilight Brigade we're a group of three soldiers who we're hundreds of thousands of years old who protected the universe from imminent danger. But no one had seen them for millennia yet people including Rain still relied on them. Maybe it was better for the magical universe to burn out and fade away rather than live like hunters scrounging around for mere scraps of magic like she did before she changed. While in her reverie the striking tone of the grandfather clock signalling midday rung through Rain's ears like a high frequency wave making her drop to the floor of the lamp to cry out in pain, the blood pounded in her skin as she rocked back and forth waiting for it all to stop. Even when the clock stopped Rain's body was still shaking violently, all she could see was a swirl of colours rushing towards her as the lamp swayed from side to side. An awful sound emanated through out the room as the lamp fell to the ground, the lamp didn't shatter like Rain expected but she did see that it was in a position to roll. Rain thought that if she couldn't escape the lamp she could at least escape Nevra's cave of boredom. Easily enough the lamp rolled very fast in fact so fast it made it to the entrance of the cave in no time but Nevra was there with her steel capped boots planted right on top stopping the rolling motion. Rain looked up at the smirking witch with pure fear, Nevra picked up the glass lamp with a tight grip "I told you Rain that you couldn't escape" Nevra cackled at the fairy with contempt "Don't worry soon there will be enough magic to let your wings out" Nevra popped the lamp into her hand bag then walked over to the table in the hall. The lamp was placed on the small round table made of stone then Nevra left the room.
His long fiery coloured straightened locks flitted against the wind coming in through the window as his deep brown eyes seemed to pierce through the lamp making Rain feel more nervous as she hid under the blanket on top of her bed "Does she know I'm here?" Nevra giggled then wrapped herself around Knights who proceeded to grab the lamp gently and examined it as a whole "So you are sure there is no way to break the spell? It is very important that Rain stay's locked in this lamp" Nevra sighed then walked off in a huff and sat down in the old wooden chair next to her book case "Honestly Knights I looked it all up before I put her in there. It's binding and completely unbreakable but I guess there is a clause" Knights put the lamp back then kneeled down in front of Nevra while stroking her hand thusly "What clause? If there is a chance that the lamp will fail I need to know now" Nevra drifted out of her train of thought "The lamp fails if all magic in the universe disappears but as you know that is a very unlikely situation" Knights laughed at his moment of fear then braced Nevra against himself. Rain emerged from under the covers of her bed in the lamp to see the loving couple in a tender moment, it made Rain feel empty not having been in love herself she had long since been able to tell there was a hole in her heart. Rain looked away from the romantic scene in front of her then sunk her head into her knees. The couple proceeded to leave the room which is when Rain ran to the edge of her lamp tapping on the glass continuously "Please don't leave me! I don't want to be alone" Nevra turned her head to look upon Rain in sadness but Knights just squeezed her shoulder then they left the room. People don't realize it but the most horrible feeling in the world is loneliness, taking away romance just having no one to talk to is eerily painful. It eats away at you until nothing is left. That's how Rain felt like she was slowly being eaten away. Tears rushed down her face like a fountain even as she wiped them away "Hello Knights are you here?" Rain lifted her head upwards to see where the voice had come from but there was nothing. Had she imagined it? "Jeez you'd think my brother would have time for me when it's business" An eerily cheerful tone played as a man who looked like a younger version of Knights with short hair and a few inches shorter walked in, two short arms made of blue mana seemed to hang out of his chest as they played this futuristic keyboard which was slung around his body. Rain looked closely at the arms to see there was ancient scripture, obviously it was an ancient spell that kept those arms there not his actual magic "Are you looking for Knights?" The young man turned in all directions trying to find where the voice had come from "Up here" The young man did indeed look up and was confounded at what he saw "How does such a tiny humanoid exist in this environment?" Rain blushed then retreated to the centre of the lamp again "Hey wait tiny person don't go" The young man sighed then scratched the back of his head in defeat "My name is Nix I'm Knights younger brother. If you come out I'm sure I can entertain you" Rain stopped then braced her self as the lamp was now in Nix's grip. Nix opened the door on the lamp giving Rain a chance to see everything clearly "Well aren't you the cutest grey blob" Rain looked up at him with an angry scowl then realized he didn't mean it rudely "Your colour blind! Well for future reference my short hair is Blonde and I'm wearing blue pyjamas" Nix laughed then plonked himself down on a chair while he was still holding the lamp "Now I have two questions. Why are you wearing pyjamas when it's day time? And what's your name?" Rain stayed silent for a short while then looked up at Nix and smiled "I was turned into the small figure you see before you when I was sleeping that's why I'm in my pyjamas. As for my name I don't think I'm ready to tell you that yet" Nix smiled mischievously at her then sighed because he heard his brother calling him from down the hall "Sorry tiny person I gotta go before my brother gives me a hiding" Nix placed the lamp on the table next to him then started to jog down the hall then just as he was about to reach the corner he turned around and gave Rain a laid back salute "So long my tiny mistress. I shall strive to find out your name" Rain laughed as he rounded the corner not to be seen or heard from for quite a while.
It was a beautiful night with the moon shining brightly on the water of the docks. For Evvie everything was going right for the special evening he had planned for his girlfriend. Even the crickets stopped the chirping sound they made with their legs in aid of this perfect evening, and the boat which engine usually fuzzes out on him was working. Evvie smiled then picked up the dark blue rag on the cooler next to his seat and wiped his sweat soaked face, Evvie sunk back down into his seat then checked his mobile to confirm that his girlfriend was definitely forty seven minutes late. Evvie started to think what if his girlfriend called to cancel but the low reception out on the docks didn't connect to his phone, so he sighed then dialled her number continuously. After ten minutes of failed contact Evvie trudged up to the helm then slammed his head on the enormous wooden wheel while uttering "Of course she doesn't come nothing ever goes completely right for me" The air suddenly turned stale and cold and a tiny bit eerie. Evvie kicked the cooler with all his fury making it crack in to several pieces like a jigsaw puzzle which made Evvie lose it even more. Ice splattered all over the floor making the floor even colder under Evvie's bare feet. Not bothering to wipe anything down Evvie kicked the broken pieces to the side then rushed over to the end of the boat to unhook his line when he saw the Hispanic beauty known as Illianna Rodriguez who was also his ex-girlfriend. Illianna's silken black hair had grown longer since Evvie saw her four months ago at the town festival. Illianna did what she usually did which was invite herself on board, Evvie shrugged then followed Illianna as she sat down on the padded seat.
Illianna brushed her hair back then grabbed a Corona that had fallen on the ground due to the broken eski. Illianna looked into Evvie's eyes with a pounding resolve which made her emerald green eyes shine even more "I guess she didn't come tonight too bad. Well more Corona for me" A smile spread across her perfectly even toned beige skin. Evvie laid back against the wet wooden floor boards then manoeuvred his left foot so a loose Corona bottle rolled to in to his hand. Illianna nodded then sat on the floor next to Evvie "It's not so bad at least you have some time to work on the boat" Evvie smiled softly but for a second then got up to stretch his muscles, after stretching his muscles he cupped Illianna's head in his hands and looked her in the eye with what seemed like desperation "The plan was for us to leave tonight and head for New York city to pick up a few of my things from my uncle's estate then we'd take a flight to whatever country was available but she didn't show up so I guess I'm stuck with you" Evvie rushed over to unhook his line but Illianna hesitated for a moment then realized that with out her meddling Evvie's relationship crumbled "Well when you put it like that I just have to say yes don't I" Evvie chuckled but Illianna could tell it was somewhat hollow after all she knew how it felt to be hollow.
After several hours of what turned out to be driving in the wrong direction the boat's engine finally died so now Illianna and Evvie we're stuck there letting their skin bathe in the moonlight. The moon light made Evvie's skin look almost translucent but Illianna was a bright blue beacon shimmering like a goddess "I guess it's not something we can avoid is it" Illianna opened her emerald orbs and looked at Evvie in confusion "Come on Illy with your skin shining blue in the moonlight we can't pretend like everything is normal any more" Illianna sighed then walked up to Evvie while tying her long hair back so it didn't get in the way "I guess we can't but you seem much happier when we discard the fact that I'm not completely human" Evvie put his hands on Illianna's shoulders to steady himself "Don't be like that you are human you just have something most humans don't Magic" Tears started to roll down Illianna's lime scented face "I doubt she would ever come back after three years but if she did would you pick me over her this time?" A long pause filled the air yet Illianna seemed to have stopped crying like this conversation wasn't happening so Evvie just let it slide and changed the subject to what the they we're going to do if neither of their phones worked in this wilderness. Illianna shrugged then dipped her feet in the water, at first she splashed her feet around then she stood up and walked around on the water. A path started to form where Illianna had stepped so Evvie ever willing to get out of this place followed her, Illianna came out of her day dreaming and remembered Evvie was behind her so she ran up to him and linked her arm in his. Evvie was still a bit anxious about walking on an unnatural path even though Illianna was right next to him guiding him along the path.
It always freaked Evvie out when Illianna used her magic and it was the reason they broke up but he never actually told Illianna that and yet he was willing to risk it all with his estranged girlfriend even though she had magic too. Maybe Evvie was more afraid of losing everything with Illianna? Maybe that's why he left her? Either way it was moot now that nothing could happen between them ever again. At least that's what Evvie had read from Illianna's reactions even though she asked that weird question before, Evvie chalked the question up to being a girl thing. Although if the chance ever arose again Evvie would definitely take it and if his estranged girlfriend showed up he would still be with Illianna, that's how important she was to him even though he started off this night in the illusion he had been living all these months. When she first left Evvie let the pain sink in almost driving him to madness then after a while he came up with the idea she never really left, that's how his world of illusion started and it was a miracle that made it stop. Evvie even before this thought of Illianna as his personal miracle and that would always be enough "Hey Illianna there is something I want to say to you" Illianna turned to face Evvie's and saw his short brunette hair slightly messed up after running his hand through it "What is it?" Evvie took a deep breath then held on tight to Illianna's hand "I just want to make you happy no matter the price. I think it's the least I can do after treating you the way I did" Illianna twirled her hair like she always did when she was nervous "Don't worry about it. Your only young once right" They smiled at each other then Evvie grabbed her in a big bear hug sort of like a brother would do and Evvie was fine with having the job as big brother because it meant he could stay near Illianna for ever.
The young Mermaid looked in the mirror practising her smile for when she would meet her lover again, his black eyes haunted her like they always did when he wasn't there holding her against himself. The aquatic beauty gazed at the glistening golden scales which erupted from her body to form a perfect bustier around her torso which she knew he loved. She spun around in a circle then took a final look in the mirror "Hey Raquelle your going to be late for your date" Cousin Annie's voice rang through Raquelle's ear's making her shimmer a bit, she looked at the time and indeed she was going to be late if she didn't leave now. Raquelle said a quick goodbye to Cousin Annie then swam as fast as she could to meet her man of mystery. Raquelle had been seeing him for a few nights now but he had yet to tell her his name or his species. He always gave the same reason about being wanted for crimes he didn't commit just because of his race. Raquelle didn't care about all that she just found him fascinating and very humorous especially when it came to politics of course Raquelle never understood politics but then again what person in a couple didn't feign interest in something they didn't like or understand?
It had taken her awhile but here Raquelle was laying on a big rock waiting for her man to show up, Raquelle looked around but didn't see him which was weird because he never was late in fact she was always late and he would joke about it. Raquelle was starting to realize she had been stood-up, Raquelle started to sob as it became more apparent that he wasn't coming. Raquelle kept saying to herself "If he didn't want to see me again why didn't he just say so?" As the tears spilled down Raquelle's face her tail began to feel very heavy like a weight was being pressed down on it. Raquelle noticed her beautiful golden tail had acquired a new green hue and upon further inspection she realized it was a spell and apparently one which shocked you if you touched it. Raquelle tried moving around but her tail wouldn't budge "Having trouble you scaled bimbo?" A voice from behind mocked her yet it wasn't one that sounded familiar. Raquelle turned around to see a girl around the same age as her with curls tied up in two ponytails like a doll wielding a chainsaw, Raquelle was truly terrified at seeing the chainsaw "That's right little Mermaid I'm gonna chop you to pieces and sell you at the fish markets" As Raquelle was trying to scramble out of the spell she saw two wings like pure blue gossamer come out of the girl's back and Raquelle knew it could only be one person "Your Bella the Fairy whose mother was executed centuries ago for genocide" She smiled with a sickening desire making Raquelle tremble "That's right fish bait and I'm going to get my revenge out on you and every other Fairy I see" Bella charged up her chainsaw which now emitted a deadening sound then started to run towards Raquelle, suddenly as she was in front of Raquelle she stopped. Bella's eyes slowly turned white and her skin seemed to dry up on the spot and behind her a blue glow surrounding a body appeared "I'd leave now if I we're you little Fairy" Bella used all her strength to turn around and face her attacker "And who are you to stop me Alichino vermin?" The man laughed devilishly which Raquelle recognized "I'm Oreraculus head of the Order Of Bellows. I'm sure you've heard of it Fairy scum" Bella finally gave up so he let her go and she left. Oreraculus looked as she flied off East leaving a trail of Fairy dust as she went along "So my man of mystery is named Oreraculus and he's of a species famous for stealing souls in exchange for a wish or love" Raquelle couldn't help but feel mischievous on this occasion. Oreraculus bent down in front of Raquelle twirling a piece of her long Blonde hair "I'd prefer you had gotten to know me better before knowing who I am" Raquelle smiled then dove back in to the water teasing him so for being late then popped back up to the surface again "I can catch you no matter where you go Raquelle" Oreraculus laughed then followed Raquelle along the water as she showed off her strong tail. Raquelle swam to her hearts content not caring that Oreraculus had to follow her "You know what I've always wanted to do?' Oreraculus floated above Raquelle in a laying down position trying to think of what she was playing at "I'd imagine a number of things after all your only twenty three" Raquelle stopped swimming and realized that Oreraculus had just unknowingly let on he's much older than he looks "I want to do what you've done, I want to spend some time on land" Oreraculus stopped moving along with Raquelle to look at her excited face with woe "That's near impossible Raquelle" Raquelle rolled her eyes "Not true there are several ways for a Mermaid to get legs like a human. One is making a deal with a sea-hag, two is making a deal with an Alichino like you, three is sea-chantey and four is to lose your magic" Raquelle smiled triumphantly at Oreraculus but he was still filled sadness "One and two require you give up your life, three requires you to have a human ancestor" Oreraculus paused for a moment seeing Raquelle's face still lit up like a Christmas tree "I wouldn't ask any one to give up their magic" Raquelle moved closer to Oreraculus stroking his face ever so gently "We'll just find another way then. It can be our personal adventure" Oreraculus smiled a dazzling smile for his up-beat Mermaid then crushed his lips against hers in moment of passion.
